Funnyman Kevin Hart has come a long way from stand-up comedy. Years of hard work, ambition, and perseverance propelled Hart to become the current highest-paid comedian in the world. With all of Kevin Hart’s success, the actor and comedian now has set his sights on helping Black America rise to the top as a whole.
The Philadelphia-born comedian did not have instant success. Kevin Hart suffered years of rejection and having to get his comedic act together before finally finding his groove. But the world-renowned comedian has come a long way from performing comedy at a male strip club named Sweet Cheeks and having buffalo wings thrown at him.
Kevin Hart’s success has no limits. In the early 2000s, Hart appeared or starred in films such as Soul Plane, Scary Movie 3 and 4, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Furthermore, Hart’s stand-up comedy began to increase in success. He also has multiple sold-out comedy tours under his belt, some becoming feature films. From there, Kevin Hart’s endorsement game flourished. Various endorsement deals with Hyundai, Nike, and H&M, among others, propelled the multiple award-winning actor’s profile and net worth. It’s no wonder that he is currently worth over $200 million, according to a report from Parade.com.
With all that Kevin Hart has achieved, he’s more than interested in giving back. Already a charitable giver to multiple organizations, the True Story star wants to increase his worth to billionaire status. While speaking with Charlamagne Tha God on “Tha God’s Honest Truth,” Hart detailed his dreams, labeling it “doable.”
The comedian touched on the statistic of being a “young Black man from North Philadelphia.” “I’m not supposed to be where I am,” said Hart. He then reflected on going back home and seeing other men who look like him and want to encourage them. Hart’s desire is to change the wealth gap and create an indelible impact with his own wealth gap. Continuing, Hart added that he sees no “ceiling to success.” Instead, he longs to create opportunities for others to propel their wealth and fulfill their respective dreams.
Recently, Kevin Hart had the opportunity to pay it forward, appearing as a guest investor on Shark Tank. “What you put into something is what you get out of it,” said Hart as he spoke about his life. Seeing the effects of stardom and how it “only gets you so far,” the actor detailed how he began his production company, which “kicked his business mind into overdrive,” he said. But Kevin Hart also dabbles into ventures, which he says is “all about financial inclusion.”
“These are doors that were closed for some time, especially to my culture,” explained the comedian. Kevin Hart details the 35+ companies they have invested in, including Beyond Meat and Fabletics. Hart hopes that his story will inspire kids from his community and all over. As his venture company, HartBeat Ventures, continues to grow, Hart promises we will see a “real initiative in closing that big financial gap.” And step by step, Hart and his company are doing just that.
On the episode of Shark Tank, Kevin Hart and Mark Cuban chose to invest in an African American–owned company named Black Sands Entertainment. Black Sands is described as the number 1 Black-owned indie comic book publisher in the nation. It appeared on the show seeking investment for their company. After an extensive back and forth debate, Kevin Hart agreed to invest $500,000 for a 30% stake in Black Sands Entertainment.
