Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are expecting their first child together. The fashion-forward power couple has been at the center of pregnancy rumors for a few months now, but they finally confirmed their bundle of joy with a streetwear-inspired photoshoot that is super on-brand for them. While everyone is singing RiRi’s praises, some are taking the opportunity to drag Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend Drake through the mud. The Certified Lover Boy is second to only Future as the king of toxic, so it would make sense that fans bring him up while celebrating someone else’s good news.
Rihanna and baby daddy ASAP Rocky have a history as deep as Rihanna and Drake’s. Rihanna and ASAP famously shared a flirty performance of their collaboration “Cockiness (I Love It)” at the 2012 VMAs, where Rihanna also took home the top honor that evening, Video of the Year for “We Found Love.” Around this same time, things were also heating up for her and Drizzy, who, only two years removed from their smash single “What’s My Name,” had collaborated again on the title track for his album “Take Care” with a smoldering video to match.
While things between Rocky and RiRi seemed to stay in homie territory, she and Drake to blossomed incredibly quickly, and the pair spent years in and out of a relationship and collaborating on music together. During this time, Rihanna would appear in fashion ads and events with her future beau ASAP. She even appeared in his video for “Fashion Killer.” 2016 brought with it the last Rihanna album to date, “ANTI,” and a significant collaboration between her and Drake. “Work” was a massive hit and seemed to cement that the couple was back on. A dapper Drizzy even presented Rihanna with the MTV Video Vanguard award later that year. His emotional speech alluded to her being the real love of his life, but only a year later, Rihanna said in an interview that they were no longer friends.
While Drake is known for being a playboy and heartbreaker, it’s no secret that when it comes to Rihanna, he’s always been a bit of a softy. He’s admitted to her breaking his heart on several occasions and even one point said she was the only woman to do to him what he’d done to other women. Sparks would eventually fly with Rihanna and ASAP who have been very public with their romance ever since. She’s been seen shooting videos for him, they’ve been modeling together and even wore complimentary looks at the Met Gala in 2021. The top of 2022 brought with it pregnancy rumors, and we now have a confirmation via the couple’s latest snaps. Rihanna rocks an oversized pink puffer coat with her belly exposed while holding ASAP’s hand under the 1 train on 125th street in Harlem.
So where is Drake during all of this? According to Twitter, he is somewhere sobbing. “Drake waking up and seeing why Rihanna trending,” posted one user with an image of Euphoria’s Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) crying uncontrollably. Someone followed this up with the clip of Tiffany “New York” Pollard leaving the finale of Flavor of Love season 2 saying, “I don’t give a fck, do I look like I give a fck? Cause I don’t,” before cutting to her balling in the backseat of her limo. The caption, “drake leaving Rihanna’s baby shower.” Our personal favorite? “Drove to Rihanna’s house to cry outside the gate and drake was already here!”
